Sometime during the early history of the First Sith Empire, the coming of
the Sith’ari, an exemplar of the Sith ideal, was foretold, inspired by the
legend of Adas.
The Sith'ari was prophesied a perfect being, the ultimate Sith, free of all
restrictions who would rise to power to lead the Sith and, according to the
legend, destroy them, yet, through their destruction, make them stronger than
ever.
“One who has freed themselves from
all restrictions has reached perfection, their potential fulfilled. Perfect
strength, perfect power, and perfect destiny, imagine it.”

A certain sect, although small within the Brotherhood, reaching all the way to the High Council, truly
believes in the ancient legend. Kaan on the other hand balked at the myth and a
majority of his fellow brethren feel akin. Bane himself has stated publicly he
has no regard for the legend and dismisses it as fantasy.

Having the distinction of never failing a mission assigned, combined with
his unusual lightsaber style, Bane unwittingly started a following of devoted
believers. These ‘Believers’ would offer him gifts and such, and would leave
them at the steps of his domicile under the cover of darkness. Eventually this
became apparent to Kaan, and in secrecy, fellow Brethren began to disappear.
Little by little Kaan discovered who the Believers were and
quickly thinned out their numbers. Kaan’s great distaste for the so-called
legend angered him to the point where he set forth a decree within the
Brotherhood. If one was to mention or even speak of the prophecy, they would be
cut down where they stood, and all gifting would cease. From that point on, the
legend would not be spoken of and no offerings would be left.
However, with the discovery of several ancient Sith Scrolls unearthed from
their final days on Yavin IV, the legend resurfaced. Kaan once again had to contend
with it. One of the eight scrolls found
was in fact a confirmation of the Sith’ari
legend, and spoke of it in great detail. Unfortunately, shortly after its
discovery and deciphering, the scroll was stolen, and most believe destroyed by
Kaan himself. Key information it contained is only known to a handful of High
Council Members and the little information that did manage to leak out was
enough to prompt a great uprising within the Brotherhood which began to spread
like an aggressive tumor.
Believers of the prophecy staged a coup against Kaan during the second
battle of Ruusan, in an effort to put what they called the “Sith’ari” in
position for the “New Beginning.”
However, Kaan was foretold of the event and was able to circumvent their
efforts. In response Kaan ordered Captain Tiris and the Black Guard to seek out
and destroy all of Bane’s remaining devoted followers. Kaan then secretly
ordered Tiris to also personally eliminate the members of Bane’s Special
Operations Sect, who at the time were below the planet’s surface scouting a
possible secondary escape route within a vast underground network of caves.
Bane had been order by Kaan to command the second ground battle as he did
with the first. Bane’s overwhelming presence, combined with his unique style
rallied the men to fight like nothing else. Kaan knew they would win the second
battle as well with Bane heading the charge along with his apprentice at his
side. Since the failed coup however, Bane has been sequestered
and isolated from all Brethren. The Brotherhood has lost all subsequent battles
since his internment. Merely two thousand Brethren
remain…
